In the past few years I have not written much. Too many terrible things happened, and it was a long slow climb back. That's life. I lost my health, my job, my health insurance, my home and my family. I couldn't support them any more, and they left home probably sooner than they normally would have. It was awful. You all know how much I enjoyed (or pulled my hair) at the antics of my offspring.
I was forced to move when I lost the house, and then forced to move again when my landlord sold *that* house. I settled in a creepy old Addams Family house (which I loved) but the people above me were terrible, the new landlord is absentee, and I was .... alone.
Dove was the last to move out, in a snit because I would not put up with her newly found early twenties partying ways. I did the same thing when I was her age. So it was just me and Villain, and then I got Phellonie, my two fur babies who help break the silence.
I saw no end in sight, and resigned myself to what I now had. Then....yesterday happened.
First I got an unexpected huge medical bill that I had thought was covered, and since I am now on disability income, had no way to pay. Great. Nice start to my day. So I called, prepared to listen to a bunch of crap about it, and suddenly, the woman on the other end said 'Wait.' I waited. She then said I qualified for a low income financial program, and the bill was forgiven. Right then and there. Blammo. The shock and relief was enormous. Partly because...round two...Devon lost her apartment due to her landlord ALSO not putting up with her friends being over all the time and being noisy, etc. and her inability to pay rent on time (she lost her job in October, and it's been a huge struggle for all of us trying to help her. There's just no jobs in this village.) SO...my baby called and we arranged for her to come back home. This is huge for me, because I had just gotten my apartment all situated, everything in its place, nice and cozy, but I was VERY excited because it helps her, and I get my baby back. Slightly grouchy and walking around like a cat that's had a bath, but still she will be here and she can gain her footing again. Much wiser hopefully. I had been draining what little I had trying to help her and this bill was going to throw us into the abyss. Now it's gone, and the financial strain of trying to help Dove has decreased to almost nothing.
Then a phone call.
