"Wake Up"

It's a documentary I found on Netflix by Jonas Elrod. The premise caught my eye because it seemed to be about a person who suddenly can 'see' spirits, demons, angels... so I immediately watched it as part of ongoing research about such things, lol, as you all well know I am into.

It became a documentary about something else, which does tie into the paranormal, but in a (paradoxically) almost scientifically explained spiritual journey that Jonas takes. It is filmed over a three year span, and touches upon so many things that I not only research, but aspire to.

There is a segment which describes the Akashic Records. Without actually coming out and using that phrase, Stephan Swartz describes the records, the 'collective conscience' of the human race. Now, I know all about this, but I am a visual person, so listening to Swartz's commentary while seeing the visual representation of such abstracted ideals really, really had an impact. It solidified things for me in a way that reading about it, or discussions about it have never done. Here is what he said (yes, it made such an impression upon me that I transcribed it, word for word, then watched that segment over and over, until full grokking was achieved):

Stephan A. Swartz (1.)
Cognitive Sciences Laboratory

“I think that one of the most exciting things that is going on in science today is the idea that there is an aspect of us that exists outside of time space. All consciousness is interconnected and interdependent. Jonas has simply become aware of an aspect of consciousness which most people are unaware of. It’s going on around them all the time. You can think of non-local consciousness as a huge database. Everything is in there. Every belief is in there, every fear is in there. The totality of the consciousness of all the individuals who have ever existed on the planet; it’s all in there. So it’s all accessible, and some of it is negative, and some of it is positive. Brahms (2.) says for instance that “I’m in an altered state, and in that altered state I can hear the music.” (3.) Tesla saw the electric motor as he was walking across Central Park. (4.)

Over and over again if you look at the words of religious ecstatics, creative geniuses; you will see again and again these common descriptions of what the experience was like, and Jonas’ description is just a part of that. I would not make this experience the defining purpose of my life. It’s a, an interesting experience on the path, but it is not the path. A year from now when you look back you have to ask yourself “What did I do with that experience?” “Who am I?” Those are questions that are important and worth answering.”

As you see, I even took the time to look up references for myself, which I have noted below.

This is a documentary that I highly recommend for thoughtful thinking, for mindfulness. It spoke to me greatly. It's an hour and a half of your life that may have huge insight on your life, and on the lives of others. As a paranormal researcher, as a spiritualist, as a seminary student, it spoke volumes to me. I have questions about things stated in the documentary, but those are good things to have. What is best though, is the feeling of wonder and satisfaction I achieved while watching it. Twice. And probably more times to come. :)

peace out.

4. This may not be entirely accurate: There is a great deal of information of Tesla and his love of Central Park, but in this
reference the actual ‘seeing’ of the electric engine problem he was trying to solve occurred in Budapest.
